Family
The aye aye mating season is from October to February, and is usually the only time of the year that males and females interact with each other. Mother aye ayes commonly have one baby that they care for until it is ready to go out into the big bad world on its own (which is usually around nine months after birth). Young aye ayes live with and watch their mothers carefully- sleeping with them in round, spherical nests, sharing meals one they begin eating solid foof around twenty weeks , and exploring their home island- and in just eight months learn survival skills that will guide them throughout their entire lives.
Aye aye breeding is done at many animal centers around the world in attempt to increase their population. Every baby aye aye is a treasure to those in hope of the species survival. The first aye aye to be delivered and raised in captivity was born in 1992.
